National Park Lauwersmeer

The nature in Groningen is so beautiful and divers here in NP Lauwersmeer. Here you can enjoy the complete silence and be astounded by the tranquil and ever changing Dutch clouds and be amazed by the various birds and colourful plants.
Typical for this area is the open and stretched out landscape. To prevent the overgrow of bushes and trees Staatsbosbeheer has placed highland cattle and Konik (polish primitive horse) in the area.
Did you know that National Park Lauwersmeer in October 2016 has been made an official Dark Sky Park? A dark sky park is an area where it is dark, where there are no artificial light and visitors are welcome to visit at night when it’s dark to watch the stars.
